Schools Contest

25 European fashion and design colleges enrolled to take part in the “Fashioning Sustainability” competition organized by Freudenberg Performance Materials. The initiative aims to bring together talented young designers and the European garment industry to demonstrate the importance of sustainability as a driver of innovation. The climax of the event will take place on September 13 in Verona, Italy.

Over the course of the competition, fashion and design students in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, the UK and Poland have been developing creative sustainability-based outfits. The two most innovative outfits from each school will participate in the grand final in Verona on September 13, 2018. In the historic surroundings of “La Gran Guardia”, an international jury will announce their choice of the most innovative design proposal. The young winners will then have the chance to speak directly with major players in the fashion and sports clothing industry.

Through this initiative, Freudenberg is providing a platform for colleges and talented young designers to connect with leading players in the garment industry, with the goal of developing creative ideas for sustainable fashion. Uli Scherbel, General Manager at Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel, explained the origin of this European competition: “At Freudenberg, we believe strongly in the connection between sustainability and innovation. This initiative is our contribution to bringing together the next generation – where innovation will come from – with people in the garment industry who can make their ideas a reality.”
