Sustainable C&A jeans with Freudenberg component

Weinheim, 01 November 2018. Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel is proud of being part of the Cradle-to-Cradle Gold certified C&A jeans with an efficient and sustainable interlining for the stabilisation of waistbands.

Fashion produced with respect of the environment – without unnecessary waste and exclusively with safe chemicals and dyes: That’s what the Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C) principle stands for. From the cradle to the cradle specifically means that all components used in the manufacture of a garment are either compostable or reusable. This is why the raw materials used in its production need to be itemised to ensure complete recycling.

C&A and Freudenberg – a sustainable partnership

C&A was the first retailer worldwide to introduce T-shirts with the Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C) Gold Certification onto the market in spring/summer 2017. Jeans followed in the summer of 2018, and Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel with its well-established market competence was able to make the necessary contribution to sustainability – by way of a special tape for the trouser waistband.

“For us, the biggest challenge was to reconcile product performance and restrictions on the use of chemicals. Ultimately, despite needing to meet the very high environmental standards, the interlining had to withstand the mechanical and thermal post-processing requirements of the jeans. With our long experience in developing sustainable solutions, we were able to quickly provide C&A with a solution,” explains Jutta Vo Quang from Global Strategic Marketing at FPM Apparel.

Freudenberg interlining tapes stand out because they can be processed easily and safely, offer a reliable and consistently high quality and can be integrated into existing production processes without difficulty.
